Terms of Use

Acceptance of These Terms

By using PickTools.net, you agree to use the site as a simple browser-based classroom toolkit. These terms are intended to be clear and practical, not a complicated legal contract.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the tools. Continued use of the site means you accept the current version of these terms.

Classroom Tool Purpose

PickTools.net is provided to help with ordinary classroom routines such as random student selection, group generation, countdown timing, stopwatch timing, discussions, review activities, presentations, and classroom transitions.

The tools are classroom aids. They are not designed for high-risk, formal, disciplinary, legal, medical, or administrative decisions.

User Responsibility

Teachers, trainers, and activity leaders are responsible for deciding whether a generated pick, group result, or timer setting is appropriate for their classroom context. You may need to adjust results based on student needs, classroom safety, accessibility, behavior, seating, or lesson goals.

You should also check visible information before displaying it on a projector, smartboard, or shared screen.

Student Information and Sensitive Data

Do not enter sensitive student information into the tools. For most classroom activities, first names, nicknames, initials, or display names are enough. Avoid storing information that should not be kept in browser localStorage or shown on a classroom display.

The current tools save necessary classroom data locally in the browser, but local browser storage is still part of the device being used. Treat shared classroom computers and public devices with care.

Random Results and Timer Accuracy

Random picks and random groups are intended to support fair classroom participation, but they should not be treated as official or high-stakes decisions. Review group results before using them if your activity has special requirements.

The timer is designed to stay accurate using browser time calculations, but browser behavior, device performance, background tabs, power-saving settings, or other technical limits can affect display updates or sound playback. Use your judgment when timing important activities.

Availability and Changes

PickTools.net may be updated, paused, or changed over time. Features may be improved, adjusted, renamed, or removed as the site develops. The site may also be unavailable at times because of hosting, browser, or network issues.

No Account, Payment, or Cloud Service

The current version does not include accounts, paid features, cloud sync, student profiles, or backend classroom data storage. Local browser storage is used so the tools can work quickly in the browser.

Disclaimer

PickTools.net is provided as is for classroom convenience. The tools are offered as practical helpers, and no guarantee is made that every result will be suitable for every classroom situation. You remain responsible for how the tools are used in your own setting.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated when the site changes. The latest version on this page applies when you use the website.
