Enter Names, Items, or Options
One entry per line. Blank lines are ignored and duplicates stay separate.
Random Result
Your selected item will appear here.
No result yet
Enter a list, then select Pick Random Item.
How to Use the Random Picker
- Enter or paste one name, item, option, or choice per line.
- Select Pick Random Item to choose one entry from the active list.
- Select Pick Again whenever you want another random selection.
- Copy the result, or turn on Remove picked item when each occurrence should be used once.
The random selector trims surrounding whitespace and ignores blank lines. Duplicate entries remain separate, so repeated names or choices keep their original number of chances to be selected.
What Can You Pick Randomly?
Names and Entries
Pick a random name for an order, assignment, giveaway entry, volunteer, or turn.
Options and Choices
Choose one meal, destination, activity, game option, or other decision from a list.
Tasks and Topics
Select a task, study topic, presentation order, prompt, or practice question.
Everyday Decisions
Use the list picker when several acceptable choices remain and you want one neutral result.
For a simple choose-one task, this page can also serve as a random choice picker or random option picker without creating separate tools for each label.
Random Picker vs Random Student Picker
Use this Random Picker for independent, general-purpose lists of names, items, options, or choices. Teachers who need saved class rosters, picked history, classroom mode, sound, and fullscreen presentation should use the Random Student Picker instead.
Random Picker vs Random Group Generator
A picker chooses one entry from a list. The Random Group Generator distributes every listed entry into multiple groups by group count or group size.
Button Picker, Not a Spinning Wheel
This tool follows a direct list → button → result workflow. It does not display or animate a spinner wheel. A visual wheel is a different interaction and is not included on this page.
FAQ
How do I pick a random name from a list?
Paste one name per line and select Pick Random Item. The selected name always comes from the active normalized list.
Can I use this as a random selector tool?
Yes. It selects one entry from any list of names, items, options, tasks, topics, or choices.
Are duplicate entries allowed?
Yes. Duplicates are preserved as separate positions. With removal enabled, only the selected occurrence is removed from the active pool.
Can the same item be picked again?
Yes when Remove picked item is off. Turn it on when a selected occurrence should leave the active pool for later picks.
Does the picker save my list?
No. The generic picker keeps its list and current result only in page state. Reloading or closing the page clears them, and no new browser-storage key is added.
